This month, my sweet little Sister Child turns three. And yes, I’m being absolutely cliche and sentimental about it. She is my last baby, after all. And each and every milestone (especially birthdays!) are enough to send me into a mild panic over how precious each and every day I have with my children are.

Thankfully, I enjoy DIY-ing the h-e-double-hockey-sticks outta my kiddos birthdays and I’ve got ample distractions to steer clear of any mom-induced sob sessions. One of the distractions DIYs was this adorable DIY Minnie Mouse Door Sign that I made using chalkboards found at my local craft store. Sister Child and Minnie Mouse are spirit animals, though Princess Sofia comes in at a close second, and when we talk about her burf-day, she requests Minnie Mouse. So she’s getting Minnie Mouse and it’s all starts with this welcome sign.

SUPPLIES

To start, I tracked down some cardboard boxes and then traced out a large circle for Minnie’s head. And then I traced out to smaller circles of the same size for ears.

Then I cut out all three of my circles.

I spray painted the cardboard circles with chalkboard paint and let them dry completely. And I forgot to take my camera outside with me to show you this step, whoops!

Next, I used my hot glue gun to secure the ears to Miss Mouse’s head.

Once the glue dried, I used my red ribbon to create an adorable bow to adorn her head. Because what’s Minnie without her bow, am I right mamas?

And then I added another piece of ribbon to the back for hanging.

Once the glue is dry, you can leave your sign blank and enjoy it as-is.

But I wanted to dazzle it up with some Minnie Mouse personality. Using my chalk markers, I scribbled on the phrase all toddler parents know by heart, “Come inside, it’s fun inside!” before securing it to my front door to welcome all of Evelyn’s birthday party guests.

This DIY Minnie Mouse Welcome Sign is so inexpensive (thank you, cardboard!) and simple, really anyone can do it. It took me less than 15 minutes to assemble once the paint was dry and it’s an adorable way to welcome all of our party guests. Maybe a fifteen minute project wasn’t exactly ample enough to distract me from my mom feels, but I’m already onto the next one and ready to tackle this Minnie Mouse party mom-sob free!
