You guys, I have five children in my blended family. Five children. Which means five personalities to shop for. Five Christmas wish lists. Five sets of gifts to wrap. Thankfully, I’m all about Christmas and giving. Next to food, gift giving is my favorite love language. I just love seeing someone’s face light up when they receive a gift I’ve put thought into.
My stepdaughter is proving to be a bit harder to shop for this year as she’s at the in-between stage in age. She’s been such a special gift in my life and I really want to give her a couple of gifts that I know she will treasure and enjoy. As an avid music lover, Katy Perry is often on her playlist, so when I saw the Katy Perry Mad Potion gift set at Walmart the other day, I snatched it up as quickly as I could! Easy solution that I know she’s going to flip for! As a smell goods lover kinda gal, the gift of fragrance is something I can totally get behind. Smell is such a powerful sense and just one whiff of a familiar scent can transport us back in time to a special memory or moment with someone we love. I remember my first perfume and to this day, whenever I smell it I remember my mom buying it for me and showing me how to use it properly (without dousing myself in it). Hopefully this fragrance gift set can do that for my stepdaughter.
Wrapping gifts is always super fun for me because I use it as an outlet for my creativity. With so many kiddos to wrap gifts for, I really don’t have a choice other than to make the best of it, so I like to give little hints with the outer wrapping. It’s sort of a puzzle to piece together in the days leading up to Christmas. These fun designs are simple gift wrap ideas you can recreate with your gifts this year.
When I wrapped my stepdaughters gift set, I wanted the outside to give a small hint as to what was inside. Since this gift was special, I wanted to bling it out for her in true Katy Perry fashion with glitz and glam. Plain brown craft paper is one of my favorite ways to get creative with gifts since they give you a blank slate to create over. I wrapped her gift in the brown paper and then used fun sticker letters to add her name. And for glitz and glam, I used little gem stickers to decorate all over the top of the gift.
My other stepdaughter is a crafty gal and loves stickers, pens, paper, and all things stationery. Sounds like her stepmother, doesn’t she? Ha! One of her gifts is a huge sticker collection, so I wrapped it up and then stuck a notebook and fun pens on the outside. I love doing this because it’s always fun to get a small peek at one of your smaller gifts on the outside, isn’t it? I used a fun purple marker to write her name on the outside in swirly cursive for a final touch.
Our littlest daughter, Miss Evelyn, who I like to call our rainbow connection (she is my husband’s and my child, so she is our bridge that connects all the stepsiblings as one) is still little, but all about sensory play. I picked up a small dress up set for her, covered it in brown paper, and then wrapped it up in battery powered twinkle lights. How much fun is that? On Christmas Eve, we will switch on the lights and enjoy the soft glow from underneath the tree. To secure the lights, I used washi tape on the back of the gift. Simple and stunning.
Three simple gift wrap ideas that really take no extra time. I mean, how much more simpler can ya get, friends? Plus, they’ll look all the more exciting and enticing under the tree.
Three gifts down and several more to go! Maybe I can convince an elf or two to help me out? Since I have a feeling most of my time will be spent guarding the gifts already under the tree from this little lady!
