For me, many holiday memories revolve around movies. My mom used to make my siblings and me brownies before the Frosty the Snowman special came on TV, my sister and I used to recite the words to Sisters (okay, we still do) as if it were written exclusively for us, and now as a mom I’m creating my own Christmas movie memories with my children. Since most of us have a Netflix subscription (and if you don’t, you cray sister, you cray), I thought I’d share my Christmas Faves on Netflix right now to inspire your own holiday movie night with your family. Or your cat because that’s cool, too.
White Christmas
This is a longtime favorite of mine. As a little girl, I loved older movies and was a total fangirl over Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, and Bing Crosby. Yes, I was a weird little girl. My sister and I watched this over and over and over every year. In fact, it’s a little inside joke we do to sing the Sisters song that’s in the movie.
Frosty the Snowman
A Christmas classic that I watch every year with my kiddos. I remember watching this as a little girl and there is something really special about enjoying something with my kids that I did as a child.
Radio City Christmas Spectacular
Rockettes are so glamorous. I used to fantasize about moving to New York and perfecting my kicks to become a Rockette when I was a little girl. I’d watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade anticipating those gorgeous ladies and their fabulous kicks.
Saving Santa
My younger kiddos love a good Santa based cartoon. This one has it all: a smart elf, an evil villain, time travel, and lots of funny situations my kiddos laugh out loud at.
Love Actually
As an adult, this is one of my ultimate Christmas movies. I watch it after the kids are in bed and I’m cozy under my covers with my space heater on, a warm cup of tea, and a candy cane. Please and thank you! Besides, who can resist a pre-Rick Grimes Andrew Lincoln?
Currently, my house looks like I’m losing at a game of Jumanji and I had a game plan to get it all put back together, but after all this talk about Christmas movies, all I want to do is snuggle with my kids amidst our mess and enjoy watching Netflix.
