Lilac Eye Shadow and My Thoughts on Fiber Lashes

My dear friend, Shannon, a 7th grade bestie who first experimented with makeup with me when we were NSync-loving tweens, is a consultant for Younique and raved about their new eye pigments and of course, the 3D mascara. She kindly offered to send me some to play and experiment with promising I’d be blown away by both products. This post is about my personal thoughts and ideas and is in no way sponsored or paid for by Younique itself, though Shannon did send me product from her own personal stock to facilitate this tutorial and review.

If there were such a thing as a spirit color, mine would be a lovely lilac purple. Feminine, classic, and soft, it’s my most favorite color. Translating my love for lilac into an eyeshadow look was just a natural step for me and my hazel eyes, which complement purple with their contrasting green hues.

To start, I covered my lid from eyebrow to lash line with a base. I used a cream color from my Too Faced Natural Eyes palate. Next yI covered just my eyelid in the Flirty Pigment Powder. Then I used a more concentrated brush and used the Regal Pigment Powder to add definition in my eye crease. Then I lined my upper lid with black eyeliner.

And then I finished it all off with the 3D Fiber Lashes+, which is my new everyday mascara. I used to be a two or three coat mascara gal and used two different types of mascara formulas to give my stick straight, shorty-short eyelashes some sort of length and volume. I’m super excited about this new 3D stuff because it’s actually cut down my mascara application time and given me super lovely, long lashes without several applications. Plus when I saw my favorite YouTube gal, Bunny, try (& love!) this mascara, I knew I’d love it too.

My first few times applying the 3D Fiber Lashes were a learning experience. This isn’t a mascara you can just use and have no issue with. You will need some practice. I ended up with fibers in my eyes and no one enjoys tiny little things poking their eyeball. It wasn’t fun. But after watching Shannon’s helpful tutorial, I quickly learned to apply the fibers away from the base of my lashes and only towards the tips. Since then, I’ve had no issue with fibers in my eye and have enjoyed building layers for more length.

I’ve never been a falsies gal, but often admired women who can pull them off effortlessly. I’ve always thought they looked gorgeous, but just couldn’t get behind them in my own beauty routine. This is a major reason I’m loving these fiber lashes because I can achieve a similar look without the glue and weird one side lifting halfway through my day.

I’d recommend this mascara to anyone who wears makeup on a daily basis. If you’re like me and always have your, “face,” on, this mascara will be a total game changer. If you’re a daily makeup kinda gal, with lots of mascara practice, you’ll quickly learn how to do this. However, if you only wear makeup on special occasions or once in awhile, I’d practice with regular mascara first since the fibers are a little tricky. But overall, I think anyone can apply and rock the hell out of these fiber lashes and love that I had the opportunity to share them with you!

If you’re considering 3D Fiber Lashes, be sure to visit Shannon’s site where you can purchase them along with the eye pigments I used in this tutorial.
