Things My Husband “Borrows” From Me

By Holly Sosa

Husband’s are notorious for “borrowing” from their wives and in a recent study conducted by Skinny Cow, there’s no more hiding it, husbands! Inspired by the results of their study on things husband borrow, I thought I’d share some of the things my husband “borrows” from me on the regular.

My Skinny Cow Chocolatey Dipped Ice Cream Sandwiches

My precious. My indulgence. My secret after-the-kids-are-in-bed treat. I don’t discriminate when it comes to Skinny Cow ice cream, but I’m currently all about the new Skinny Cow Chocolately Dipped Ice Cream Sandwiches in Vanilla Bean Dream (and so is my husband!). It’s pure vanilla bean bliss with vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate wafers and veiled in a rich, chocolatey coating. It comes in three flavors: Vanilla Bean Dream, Ultimate Chocolate and Creamy Caramel. Sure, it comes in a brown and pink box, but my handsome bearded husband sure loves them too!

My pens

As a stationery addict, I take my pens seriously. It takes me months to find one that’s perfect for me. Bold tip, rollerball, ink not gel, and pretty to boot. It’s taken him about four years, but he’s finally learning that my pens are off limits.

My shampoo and conditioner (the expensive LUSH kind!)

Last year I started getting into LUSH products for my hair. I wanted to start taking better care of my short locks and invested in some expensive shampoo and conditioner. I noticed it dwindled down fairly quickly and one whiff of my husband’s hair told me he was a Lushie too. Now I buy double when I have to stock up so that mine doesn’t mysteriously disappear.

My socks

My husband and I wear the same size shoe (I have Sasquatch feet) and he has a hard time finding men’s socks that fit him without being too lose. Until one day he realized my women’s socks fit quite nicely on his feet. After several drawers missing socks, I finally convinced him to start buying his own socks from the ladies section. There’s no shame…unless you steal them from your wife’s drawer!

My fabric scissors

If you’re a crafting gal or one who works with fabrics, you know that fabric scissors are costly and that they’ll dull or dent easily when used for other cutting purposes. I finally had to hide my fabric scissors after realizing my husband was using them on things like popsicles (to trim the tips off), plastic, and even on wire. Girls, I had Hades hair when I found sticky residue all over my precious shears!

As much as I enjoy poking a little fun at my husband, I’m equally as guilty when it comes to “borrowing” some of his things (he’s probably still wondering when he’ll get his favorite cardigan back). His men’s brand razors are infinitely better than any woman’s brand I’ve tried so now I get extra for me when picking some up for him. And really, how something is packaged doesn’t mean husbands are off limits. In fact, I encourage my husband to enjoy Skinny Cow and even get his socks from the ladies section for him.
