Being a work from home mother has it’s perks. I get to make my own schedule, my office is in my bedroom, I don’t need to ask anyone else for time off (which also means I’m never late!), and I get to stay home with my children. But with all the perks come an equal amount of not-so-exciting things about working from home. It’s much easier to get stuck in a rut, working with kiddos underfoot is harder than you’d think, and sometimes being in one place all that time takes a toll on my inspiration.

As a stationery addict, one of my favorite ways to freshen things up and create an inspiring work environment is with office supplies. A pretty planner, a new pen, and even a lovely new DIY Mouse Pad. Whenever I’m feeling a little like my workspace needs a pick-me-up, I retreat to my stash of craft supplies and whip up a new mouse pad with some cork, some fabric, and a little craft glue.

  • cork board
  • fabric
  • craft glue

To start, I trimmed down my cork board to the size and shape I prefer. For this tutorial, I used the bowl from my stand mixer to trace out a circle and trim off the excess cork.

Next I did the same to my fabric, leaving extra space around the circle to wrap around the cork.

And using craft glue, I adhered the fabric to the cork board, tucking the excess fabric underneath as I went along. Little helper hands below.

I allowed it to dry overnight before using.

A lovely lavender Ikat print to freshen up my desk in no time at all! It was a simple afternoon craft that’s certain to help inspire and motivate me to be more productive.

With a busy work from home schedule, I’m all for a simple craft that still allows me to get creative while keep my schedule open for all of the demands in my life, which is why I also love the new Centrum Vitamints Raspberry.* The Vitamints are a unique combination of essential nutrients and offer a delicious and fresh taste. They come in a convenient dispenser that I can take with me on the go or keep on my desk for while I’m working from home. They also offer MultiGummies versions for men and for women, which I picked up at my local Walmart for my husband and me. I love the Gummies because they keep it simple with no artificial flavors or sweeteners, I can take it with or without food/water, and they’re gluten free. Orange is my favorite flavor out of the three offered in the bottle. Yum!
