Teeth brushing is a habit I’ve tried to establish with my children from an early age. However, at ages three, five, and six, they still need regular reminders in order to ensure they keep their oral health in tip top shape. To help motivate their daily brushing, I use kid-friendly products that feature their favorite characters and a handy chart. Kids love a good chart. At least mine do. No reward incentive needed, friends. Just a colorful chart is all it takes!
It also helps to have Spider-Man on my team in the form of mouthwash. The Firefly Spider-Man Fun Pump Rinse is sugar-free, alcohol free, and boasts a fun melon flavor that kids will love. It includes a mess-free cup that tucks right into the pump dispenser for easy storage after each rinse session.
And a Light Saber toothbrush is also pretty handy in getting my boys to want to brush their teeth! Part of the Firefly Star Wars Collection, their Kylo Ren Lightsaber toothbrushes light up for 60 seconds, teaching them to brush for one full minute on each row of teeth. Once the light goes out, it’s time to switch to bottoms. And once it’s out again, they’re done! Plus, with the sound effects and light, it’s basically like having a galactic Star Wars battle and fighting cavities in their mouths.
Both of these products by Firefly, available at Walmart, transform what would be a chore into play time for my kiddos.
In addition to our fun Firefly products, I’ve implemented a Chore and Teeth Brushing Chart to encourage my kids to brush twice daily to help them develop healthy oral healthcare habits. It’s a fun way for them to keep track and really, a chart makes mundane tasks somehow more fun? At least with my kiddos it does!
