Friday nights are the jam here at Casa de Sosa because that’s usually when we get buck wild and break our normal weekday rules. Netflix and sleepouts (my kiddos get to camp out in the living room) with popcorn and a candy dessert they get to choose on the way home from school. Without a doubt, choosing a candy is one of the highlights of my week. Non-parent friends, this is what excitement is when you become a parent. Candy. No shame in my candy game.
When dessert time is announced, it’s practically a symphony in my home. With two insatiable six year olds and a three year old who is an all-day-grazer rather than meal eater, desserts are practically our religion. When that Friday night dessert bell is rang, we get to indulge in our treats and test out new flavors.
Crunchkins™ are a current fave with their creamy candy coating and crunchy centers are dessert-flavored poppers that have three flavors in each bag: Birthday Cake, Fudge Brownie, and my personal favorite, Glazed Donut. You may find me picking those babies out before handing over a few to my kiddos to enjoy. Parent perk: getting first choice of candy flavors. We get them from our local Walmart at the check out stands along with our usual Friday night supplies like popcorn. They come in three ounce share packs, so one bag is plenty for my two boys to share.
Once the much anticipated dessert event is over, my boys each cuddle into their blankets and watch their favorite movies. It’s basically the biggest event of their week and they look forward to it every single time. Which is a bonus for me because I use it as a behavior adjustment tool and they know that bad behavior warrants a sleepout night revocation. More Crunchkins™ for me!
