Being the lover of holidays that I am, I try to send a small gift or snack to my boy’s classroom before each holiday. With Halloween around the corner, I know parents are going to be dealing with enough candy that I decided to put together little Halloween pencil treat boxes for the kids instead. There are two simple ways to create these gifts. The first is what I used for the students and is a great way to dazzle up a single pencil in a spooky way.
SUPPLIES
- pencils
- scrapbook paper
- scissors
- craft knife
- scissors
- ruler
To begin, I trimmed a piece of paper to seven inches long by three inches wide.
Next, I used a craft knife to make two small slits for the pencil to slide into.
Lastly, I tucked one pencil inside the two slits to secure it to the paper.
From here you can add stickers or additional embellishments to dazzle it up or you can leave it just as it is for a simpler version, which is what I did.
For another creative way to gift several pencils at once, I used this template from Sassy & Sweet and whipped up several for school staff. It was simple enough for me to do and I wanted to share my step-by-step process.
To start, I trimmed my paper as per the template.
Next, I used a ruler to score the fold lines.
Then I creased all the fold lines.
Added some glue on the spaced designated by the template.
And folded everything together.
And once the glue was dry, I added the pencils.
It’s such an easy (and affordable!) idea that gives a festive gift the Kindergartners and teachers receiving these will get lots of use out of. They’re an adorable alternative to candy on the treat-obsessed holiday that parents will thank you for later.
