Losing weight is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. Partly due to food addiction and partly due to motivation. Over the months, I’ve learned and researched a few small things you can do everyday to lose weight. Today, I’m sharing some simple ways you can change your day for the better. They’re easy, require no expensive equipment, and offer freedom for zero excuses.

1. Stand while you work

Standing while you work can give you better posture and even encourage you to be active throughout your day. This article is full of tons of facts and advice for getting up on your feet every 20 minutes to ensure your body doesn’t become sedentary.

2. Drink water before each meal

New research suggests that drinking 16 ounces of water before each meal can help you to lose weight (source).

3. Plate your meals on small dish ware

This can help you with portion control and overeating. When you plate your meals on smaller plates, you can help ensure you serve yourself a proportional amount of food.

4. Stretch

Stretching increases the level of blood flow to your muscles; it can help you feel more energetic, and help you to be less likely to injure yourself before a work out. Streching also has been shown to help decrease stress and help increase focus.

5. Inspire yourself

Leave daily notes of inspiration for you to see everyday. For me, a positive quote or photo up on my bathroom mirror is helpful. Find something that helps uplift or motivate you and try to keep it at the forefront of your mind.

These small activities offer simple changes you can make to your everyday routine that can help set you up for success.
