Around my house, OREO cookies are typically reserved for the adults. Yes, we hide our stash from the kids. We’re entitled to our own treats, right?! RIGHT?! My husband and I are not ashamed (okay, maybe a little) of hiding behind the pantry door to wolf down an OREO or two. We can’t poop without a child interrupting us, so we’re gonna have our cookie in PEACE! Are we alone in this or do you guys do it to?

The new OREO Thins are thinner and crispier versions of our favorite cookie and have inspired me to whip together a DIY Treat Yo’ Self Cookie Jar that’s reserved just for this mama and her handsome husband. No kids allowed. And no more behind the pantry door hiding. This cookie jar will be tucked away on the top shelf, where little hands can’t reach, and where my OREO Thins can be alllllll mine.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • a large mason jar
  • chalkboard labels (or tape)
  • chalk markers
  • twine
  • OREO Thins

Before you begin, make sure your mason jar is thoroughly cleaned.

On a chalkboard label, use a chalk marker to hand write “treat yo’ self.”

Place the label on the mason jar.

Load up your cookie jar with new OREO Thins! I used Original and Golden flavor in this jar, but they also have Mint, which sounds divine!

That’s it. Super simple and it only takes five minutes or less to put together. No one wants to mess around with a complicated DIY when it’s cookie time.

You can find new OREO Thins in all three flavors at your local CVS. They’ve quickly become my new favorite treat with their thinner, crispier, and new texture, giving me a different way to enjoy my OREO.
