This year, back to school marks a new season in my son, Collin’s, life. His father lives three hours away and he will be seeing him a little less during the school year as our son begins Kindergarten, which makes for two hearts that will be doing a whole lot of missin’. When I receive the new list on Monday, I text it to Collin’s Daddy and he creates a set of flash cards. Every night before bed, Collin video calls his Dad for a sight word lesson and run through. He’s usually mastered the words within a day or two, but consistency is key where sight words are concerned.
