I had full intentions of not buying the new Erin Condren Life Planner until the end of the year, but the new release got the best of me and I just had to have the newest one. I fell in love with the cleaner look and simple design, allowing for easier customization and more space for writing. It’s been about a month since I received the new planner in the latest design, so I figured it was time to share my thoughts on it.

PROS

  • The small calendar in the upper left corner of each week has been replaced with a space thankful thought. Since I never utilized the calendar, I like this change. I use it for stickers, for our family Bible study verses, and for actual thankful thoughts (ha!).

  • The morning, day, and night boxes have been replaced with blank boxes. This was my favorite change since I covered my old planners with washi tape to block those out and repurpose the boxes for my needs. Top = daily activity, appointments, events, family night. Middle = blog work. Bottom = house chores and miscellaneous to do lists.

  • The left notes section no longer has a header, which leaves it up to you to purpose the space for your needs. This is great because I’ve seen this used for several different lists, ideas, and more. I use this for bills that need to be paid that week and for my top three goals/tasks that need to be completed.

CONS

  • The front calendar now has a goals addition. While I like the thought, this isn’t functional for me. Part of setting goals is visualizing them daily, which is why I add my goal sheets in a removable card each month. I visualize these pages being excitedly filled out by people only to be neglected the rest of the year. Instead, I recommend using Project Life cards on a coil clip.
  • There are measurably less notes pages this year. For someone like me, who uses the notes pages to add additional sections to her planner, this was a bit of a let down for me.

My love for Erin Condren is unwavering. It’s by far a superior planner to all I’ve tried in design, functionality, and size. Each year she releases the latest changes and updates, not all of which I may love, but they’re always an improvement and increase the performance of the planner. While I may have a couple cons on my list, I hope it doesn’t deter you from using EC for yourself because I adore this system and cannot recommend it highly enough. Believe me friends, I’ve tried just about every planner available and none compare to my Life Planner.
