Makeup is one of the few ways I indulge in myself. As a mom, it’s comes naturally to me to place my children’s needs and wants above mine. But makeup is one area that’s just for me. I believe in embracing your beauty, whether that’s with makeup or not. For me, makeup gives me confidence, makes me feel feminine, and is fabulously fun!

There are five makeup items that I live for. I’ve experimented with countless brands and colors, and while I’m no beauty expert, I’ve invested enough time and money to feel like I can share some solid must-haves for your makeup collection. These five items are my makeup must-haves, my cream of the crop, my…cue Leann Rimes….how do I liiiiivvveee without you…..beauty regimen necessities.

1. Too Faced Natural Eye Shadow Palette: Can I get buy with a drug store shadow palette? Probably. But when Jacob picked this up for me for Valentine’s Day, I realized just how great this eyeshadow is. It applies like pure velvet and covers evenly. I love that it offers both matte and shimmer shades and that it’s a variety of neutrals with just enough shade difference to feel like you’re experimenting. I’ve had this since Valentine’s Day and I use it everyday. It’s still got plenty of life left in all of the shades, so you do get your money’s worth out of this one.

2. The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette by Maybelline: Before I got my hands on my trusty Too Faced, I used this palette. It doesn’t go on nearly as smooth, but it works nicely. I use this palette daily to brush my brows on. I like that it goes on naturally. It doesn’t look like I’ve brushed eyeshadow on my brows and looks natural. While I don’t use it for my eyes much, if at all, it’s a great brow powder and there are a variety of colors to play with and blend. It’s also a more affordable palette for those of us on a budget.

3. L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara: My eyelashes are super thin and super straight. I use two different mascaras everyday. This is my second and most needed coat. I’ve been using this lovely little formula for years now and I din’t ever feel the need for fake lashes because this stuff works so awesome. It gives me thick and long lashes, but it does require a few coats. I like to apply, wait 15-20 seconds so it’s not completely dry and just slightly tacky, and then apply again. This is my Holy Grail of mascara.

4. Bare Minerals BareSkin Pure Serum Foundation: This is the best foundation I have ever used in my long history if foundation use. I’ve tried just about every brand, every price point. This product is amazing. It’s smooth, you need just two to three drops to cover your entire face. It doesn’t feel heavy and it gives you complete coverage. It’s a little on the expensive side (in my opinion) for makeup, but this is a splurge I will make over and over again because I love this so much. Anytime I give someone makeup advice, I always share this product. I have had this bottle since February and it’s still got enough to last me another month or so in it, but I think this is hugely in thanks to the brush that I got with it. The brush was made specifically for the foundation and it’s positively genius, allowing you to use less product for total coverage. Trust me friends, if you take anything from today’s makeup share, these two items will change your makeup life.

3. Physician’s Formula Correcting Powder Palette (similar found here): My foundation with a little touch of blush could easily be enough to put on and go, but I like to finish things off and give an airbrushed look with this powder. I have loved every Physician’s Formula product I’ve tried, but their powders are especially nice and blend seamlessly.

Can we get three cheers for good makeup? Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray! These five products are used daily on my face and I am so happy with them that I wanted to dedicate some time to sharing them with you. I’m turning 30 this year and I’ve been wearing makeup since I was 13 years old. I feel like just now, at almost 30, I’m finally getting a good grip on makeup and the products I love and that work well.
