My Medifast Journey | W1

If you follow me on social media, you know that I’ve started the Medifast program to help me lose weight and change my lifestyle, eating habits, and improve my health. It’s been a full week since I’ve started and what I thought would be an easy journey proved otherwise. I started with high hopes and fueled with motivation, but ultimately failed when my monthly period cravings kicked in and I inhaled all the chocolate I could get my hands on two nights in a row. It was an eye-opening experience for me and I learned that my relationship with food was much more complicated than I had previously thought. After my two day binge, I did terrible at sticking with my food choices form Medifast and just completely fell off the wagon. Thanks for the depression, hormones.

If I had to choose one thing I’ve taken away form week one, it’s that weight loss is a marathon. It’s not going to happen instantly. I’m not going to stay perfectly on plan every single day. I’m going to have weak moments, weak days, even weak weeks. And that’s okay. I’m taking this next week in stride, with more patience. I’m wounded, but not defeated. And I kicked that stupid chocolate-devouring period to the curb. Right in the rear, thank you very much.

Despite being completely derailed, I still lost a pound this week. I should be excited about this, I know, but prior to Choco-pocalypse, I had lost three pounds when I stuck to my Medifast meals. Three. So, it’s a little sad to actually have to see what it did to my body when I got all crazy chocolate wasted.

Since this weight loss journey is being shared with all of you, I’m just going to be raw, honest, and as authentic as possible. While Medifast is supplying me with my meals free of charge, they are not paying me to tell you how sunshine and lollipops (mmmm, lollipops) this is going to be. I also want to disclose that I reached out to Medifast myself after doing some research on weight loss programs. After looking into Medifast and what they’re all about, I fiercely wanted to be a part of it and share them with you.

Next week, I’ll dive more into my meals, which ones are my favorites, and maybe even share some fun recipe ideas. This week, I want to share my stats with you and just had to word vomit my first week fail out onto my keyboard and with all of you. We’re in this together, right? You’re cheering me along from the sidelines with a huge trophy made of Lush bubble bars waiting for me at the end of this marathon, right?
