My February Goals: A Monthly Goal-Setting Link Up for Motivated Families & Individuals

It’s been four days since I washed my hair and at least two weeks since I’ve vacuumed my house, but damn it I’m here to shout my February goals from the mountain tops and force myself to get motivated.

I’ve been reading all of your responses to my reader survey and want to let you know that I hear you. Changes that are in the works: less frequent posting (5 times a week seems to be a happy medium), more lifestyle posts, and trying to make my sponsored posts feel more organic and less sale pitch-y. I do have to say that the support you all give me is overwhelming. I love that my readers are intelligent, capable, and all around fabulous people who understand the work I put in here. And I also adore each and every one of you for understanding that taking on sponsored posts is something I need to do to keep this blog alive (and it helps feed my family!).

Between all the gigantic packages being delivered to my doorstep each week (Aiden’s bed, desk, and other bedroom furniture) and Evelyn’s birthday party, my house is bursting at the seams. I know I’ll feel accomplished and motivated once Aiden’s bedroom comes together, but right now the clutter is making me have anxiety and I am just ready to have it done.

Let’s move on to mountain tops and shouting goals, shall we? I made steady progress on my January goals and thought I’d share updates on them before sharing my February goals.

BLOGGING GOALS FOR JANUARY

  • Start a monthly goal-setting link up: I did create this! I hope it’s inspired you to create goals each month and I hope you’ll be linking up with me this month.
  • Gain 45 blog subscribers via Bloglovin’: I gained very few subscribers this month, but I’m not going to let it discourage me. I’m implementing the changes you’ve asked for and I’m certain this will help bring in new friends.
  • Create a fabulous new media kit: Yaaaaaas, girl! Done.
  • Purchase a color laser printer: Done!
  • Make a blog binder: I didn’t get this done, but I’ll be adding it to my February goals now that I have a new printer.
  • Update my resume: See above.
  • Comment on 3 blogs five times weekly: I did very well with this and saw an increase in interaction on my own blog almost instantly. I’ll definitely be keeping this up.

PERSONAL GOALS FOR JANUARY

  • Start my Medifast program: I did start my program and cannot wait to share more with you! My plan is to share a short post weekly with details on my favorite and least favorite food items, healthy recipes, and my loss progress. Look for the first one next Wednesday!
  • Complete a 7 minute workout 3 times weekly: I dropped the ball hardcore on this one. But after talking to my Medifast dietician, I decided against starting any new workout routines for my first few weeks on the program. You’ll see this goal back again for February.
  • File my 2014 taxes: Done!
  • Begin the 52 week money saving challenge: We rocked this, though it’s easy when the biggest deposit this month was $4!
  • Hire lawn maintenance: I didn’t end up doing this; in fact, we will be postponing this four a few months.
  • Host Evelyn’s 2nd birthday party: We had a lovely little celebration for our sweet little sister child.

FAMILY GOALS FOR JANUARY

  • Go on a date with Jacob: We were able to have a date night alone thanks to my in-laws. We went to see American Sniper. It was an experience and I highly recommend the movie.
  • Have Evelyn dedicated at our church: We attended the dedication class and had a private interview with the kid’s pastor which are both required before the ceremony. We have one more class to take, but we are set for a March dedication ceremony.
  • Complete Aiden’s bedroom: My master bedroom is filled with new furniture for this project. We will be painting next week while both boys are with their other parents (Collin in Vegas and Aiden with his Mama) and then hopefully building his new bunk beds, desk, and closet. This project will clearly bleed into February, but what DIY doesn’t usually take longer than expect, am I right?

BLOGGING GOALS FOR FEBRUARY

  • Make a blog binder: I’d love to have this completed by mid-February. It’s a slippery slope to get behind on this, so it’s a high priority.
  • Update my resume: Every time I sit down to do this, I’m so annoyed by the task. It needs to be done in the worst way, though.
  • Gain 30 Bloglovin’ subscribers: This is a smaller bite towards my goal for the year.
  • Vlog three times: I received several requests for more vlogs in my reader survey. I do enjoy these, it’s just hard to find time and I’ve been lazy this month. Clearly.
  • Increase my Facebook shares: A huge amount of you stated you receive news on new posts here via Facebook. Which just tells me, I need to post and interact more over there if that’s where you’re hanging out! Hey friends!

PERSONAL GOALS FOR FEBRUARY

  • Lose 10 pounds with Medifast: You guys wouldn’t even believe it, but I got my monthly visit the first week I started the program! There were a few rather embarrassing evenings where I caved into my chocolate cravings. I definitely regret it and I definitely see where I have serious issues with food in my life. Here’s to a new month and a fresh start without my crimson friend.
  • Complete a 7 minute workout 3 times weekly: This is going in my planner. No excuses! I even have a dang app, you guys. Enough!
  • Map out my daily schedule: I’m going to dive into my Emily Ley planner this month with high hopes it will help me create a work schedule or some kind of office hours.
  • Use my DSLR: Goodness has my DSLR not been involved in my family life. I am forever putting it to the wayside. It’s just so much easier to use my phone, but I love having the pictures from my DSLR to look back on.

FAMILY GOALS FOR FEBRUARY

  • Finish Aiden’s bedroom: We have all the pieces; now we just need to put it together.
  • Go on a family Valentine’s date: Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday which is usually when we attend church. I’m thinking a family date at Steak n Shake would be a fun treat for the kids.
  • Enjoy each other: February is the calm before the storm that is March and April. We have so much going on in the coming months, that I want to slow down this month and enjoy the simplicity of life for a bit.

Last month, I offered a $10 Starbucks gift card to one lucky motivated goal-setter who participated in the link up. The winner was Audrey of Classy Mustachey. This month, I’ll be offering a $10 gift card to Sonic, my favorite drink stop for tea and cherry limeades. Do yourself a favor next time you’re in there and order an orange pop with pineapple added. You will thank me later.
