Migraine Relief Oil Blend | DIY Roller Blend

I’m not a doctor and this post isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, or cure. As a sufferer of migraines, this post is meant to share alternative methods that have personally provided me with relief. As someone who suffers from migraines, I’m eager to try anything that promises relief. Most people who experience migraines don’t get relief from over the counter medicines and often have to just tough it out for the duration of the migraine. Personally, I’ve spent an afternoon or two laying down on the couch with a bag of frozen corn over my face for relief.

Unfortunately there isn’t much I can do to prevent migraines and they can strike at the most inopportune times (when my brother-in-law got married, I was struck with one of my worst migraines to date), but I have found relief through natural remedies (like the frozen corn, ha!) and with essential oils. I keep a Migraine Relief Oil Blend roller, a blend of therapeutic grade essential oils, with me at all times. This blend of oils can be created in my home using my own stash of essential oils.

To start, I add five drops of peppermint oil to a glass roller blend container.

Then I add three drops of lavender oil.

And three drops of lemongrass oil.

And I fill the bottle up the rest of the way with fractionated coconut oil (any carrier oil you prefer will also work). I use fractionated because virgin coconut oil will harden inside the roller, making it nearly impossible to roll on.

Since I make a variety of these roller blends for myself in various kinds, I use these handy masking tape stickers for labeling the blends.

When I feel a migraine coming on (or when I’m in the throes of one), I rub this blend onto my temples, the top of my forehead, and on the back of my neck. The blend of essential oils provides me with relief from the nausea and pain while also helping me to stay calm and relaxed while I wait out the migraine. While it doesn’t provide a magical solution, it does give me enough relief to use it when I do suffer from one and I’d recommend it to any of my friends who also suffer from migraines.
