For me, Christmas and baking are synonymous. Growing up, I remember faithfully decorating countless sugar cookies with my grandmother, adorning each one with candies and sprinkles. Since young adulthood, my mother, sister, and myself would set aside a designated Bake Day and spend an entire day, morning through the night, cooking up treats, cookies, and candies for friends and co-workers. I live too many miles away to hold our annual Bake Day, but I carry on these baking traditions with my own family every year, sharing love through a warm cookie or gooey brownie, satisfying tummies along the way.

This year I was inspired by Pillsbury™ Family Size Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix and created these fun Christmas Tree Brownies with my children. A simple adjustment from squares into triangles allowed us each to express some Christmas creativity and create holiday adorned trees to fill our tummies.

To create these Christmas Tree Brownies, I picked up a box of Pillsbury™ Family Size Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix from my local Walmart (you can find it in the Baking Aisle) and followed the instructions on the back of the box once I got home. I used my Ibotta app to earn up to $2.00 back with this purchase (you guys have to check this out if you don’t know about it yet).

I added in some vegetable oil.

Then some water.

And a couple of eggs before giving it all a good stir and adding it to a pan I lined with parchment paper.

I baked the brownies for the allotted time instructed for my pan. The box had a variety of options, which was handy!

Once the brownies were fully cooked, I removed them from the oven and let them cool for about an hour.

Then I popped the brownies out of the pan by tugging on my parchment paper to lift them out easily.

I cut them into triangle shaped Christmas trees.

Then we decorated them using green icing and M&M’S® Brand Milk Chocolate Baking Bits for festive ornaments.

At the end of it all, I ended up with a lovely array of Christmas Tree Brownies, each with their own special design.

During the holidays, I’ll admit I’ve been caught in the hustle of it all. With the business of it all, I have to remind myself to slow down and baking is one of my favorite ways to do that. It allows me to connect with my family as we add ingredients and stir. We get silly and create our most magical designs together. The memories are some I hope they’ll remember as fondly as I do the ones with my mother and grandmother.
