Halloween is such a fun time in my home. We love to do holidays loudly and proudly. No shame, just pure holiday indulgence. For Halloween, my kiddos and I love to create creepy foods and craft our spookiest creations. This year, inspired by A&W® Root Beer Mini Monster cans, we created our silliest DIY Monster Headbands together. Because how else do you drink a pop with a monster on it? Not without a monster headband, that’s for sure.

SUPPLIES

  • headbands
  • craft pipe cleaners
  • craft poms
  • craft cords
  • wiggly craft eyes
  • Halloween party favors/props

The name of the game for this craft is to be as silly or as spooky as your heart desires. Since we still have littles, we went with silly monsters and we started by wrapping pipe cleaners around our headbands.

Next we wrapped more pipe cleaners around some Halloween party favor glasses we found in the seasonal aisle at Walmart. And then attach them to our headband by wrapping the pipe cleaners other end around it.

Once we have monster eyes, everything else is creative flow. We think outside the box. We channel our inner purple people eaters. Embrace the werewolves inside ourselves.

Hot glue secures all of our monster parts perfectly so we can wear our headbands throughout October. For me, maybe while I’m out at Walmart picking up more of these fun monster cans of Sunkist® Soda, A&W Root Beer, 7UP®, Canada Dry®, Squirt® and Big Red® that my husband and I enjoy after kids are tucked in bed (what?! you do it, too!).

Use the Ibotta app to get $1.00 cash back when you buy these Halloween mini monster cans at Walmart.

For the kids, these headbands will be worn while playing with the monsters that come to life right off of the mini monster cans. Oh yes, friends, it’s like having a pet monster (only you don’t have to feed it or clean up after it). Download the Mini Monsters Augmented Reality app (while wearing your rad new headbands, of course) and use it to bring the monsters on your cans to life. The app allows users to record videos of their monster and even take selfies with their new monster friends.
