Adding School Schedules to my Planner

My planner is more than simply an agenda to get me through each day. It’s a media journal, planner, and scrapbook all in one. Sure, I record appointment times and events, but it’s also a little place for me to let out some creativity and have fun with stickers, pens, and all things stationery related. But one area that stays pretty plain and simple is where I keep my kids’ school schedules. It needs to be easily and quickly referenced frequently, so I leave it alone for the most part.

I repurposed the front of my Erin Condren Life Planner calendar section. It was largely unused and just a quick reference when I needed to know a date. I picked up some of these small dot stickers and they fit perfectly over the calendar dates in that section, so I started using them to mark dates that my boys didn’t have school.

Typically, I plan one to two months ahead, so this has been a handy reference for me when mapping out our months as a family or planning events and vacations.

My stepdaughters attend a different school district, so their days off differ and I keep a separate calendar for them near the back of my planner, but that’s a separate post, ha! I was color coding with stickers, but that was confusing and overwhelming and a bit overkill.

If you’re anything like me and the front of your planner goes unused, this is a clever way to repurpose that space to work for you. If your children often have half days (mine go to an after school club on theirs, so I don’t need to track them), you could use a different colored sticker to mark those days as well.

I use an Erin Condren Life Planner and if you’ve been a reader of this blog for any amount of time, you probably have seen more than your fair share of my posts that rave about this system. I’ve tried several planners and this one just works the best for my family and our needs. If you’re looking for a functional planner, this is my highest recommendation. You can get $10 off your first purchase using my referral link. You’ll get $10 off and I’ll get a $10 credit as well. Full disclosure. But if I didn’t get the credit, I’d still be sharing this with you because I genuinely love my planner.
