I’ve been clinically obsessing over freezer meals lately and have been whipping up everything from casseroles to dump dinners like a mad woman. When I did some research on breakfast freezer meals, I found out that you can freeze waffles and pop them in the toaster whenever you so desire. My brain translated this to: you need a waffle iron and you need it now. Now I’ve got a shiny new waffle iron and only one recipe to use. Until I discovered that you CAN PUT BROWNIE MIX INTO A WAFFLE IRON TO MAKE WAFFLE BROWNIES! Friends, we need a small dance party for this revelation. I’ll wait.
A few months back, I started using the new Pillsbury Purely Simple mixes for my cakes and brownies. They contain no colors, no preservatives, and no artificial flavors and they taste like homemade.
I grabbed a box of brownie mix from my pantry and quickly whipped up some brownie batter.
Once I warmed up my waffle iron, I was frothing at the mouth to test this baking hack out. I loaded up my waffle iron with about a third of the batter, shut it and not so patiently waited.
My waffle iron is super convenient in that it tells me when the batter is done, so I didn’t need to time it. When I opened the iron up, it was perfect brownie waffle goodness staring back at me.
You know how when you bake brownies, you can’t wait to dig into one of the edge pieces because of the sheer chocolate perfection? Waffle brownies are exactly that: the edges of the brownie pan in one glorious waffle creation.
Enjoy them just as they are and you’ll satisfy even the angriest of chocolate cravings. Or add a scoop of ice cream to the top for an even more indulgent dessert. However you enjoy them, the next time you have a chocolate hankering, try these brownie mix waffles and then come back here and thank me.
