Football is in full swing and whether you’re a college or league fan, I’d be willing to bet that the echoes of cheering crowds can be heard coming from your TV this Fall. If you’re a super fan tailgater or just an at-home viewer, this simple recipe for chocolate covered pretzels will showcase your team spirit in a festive (and easy to transport, tailgaters!) way. For my desert family, we support our Michigan college teams loudly and proudly with our blue and gold. It’s one way we stay connected to our Northern roots and bond as a family, even from miles away. My kiddos look forward to these tasty Team Spirit Pretzels every season and I’m sharing the step-by-step recipe, along with a clean up secret, with you today.

To start, you’ll need some melting candy in your team colors. We’re all about that blue and gold here, so I stocked up on plenty of those colors. In a tall, microwave-safe cup, melt the candy for 30 seconds at a time. Stirring between each 30 seconds.

Once the candy is melted, take a large pretzel rod and dip it in about 3/4 of the way, leaving just enough room at the bottom for holding.

Next place your pretzel on a sheet of wax paper.

Immediately cover with sprinkles in the opposite color of the candy. I’ve got yellow candy, so I’m using blue sprinkles.

Repeat the process until you’ve got enough pretzels to feed your game day guests or tailgating crowds. You can also switch up the colors. For instance, I also used blue candy melts and yellow sprinkles.

Store pretzels in the fridge to allow candy to set.

These fun pretzel treats are so bright and festive. They add color and team pride to game day and they’re just plain pretty to look at, am I right?

Cleaning up melted chocolate can be a task, so I use Viva® Vantage® Towels, my only trusted brand (seriously, I just bought over 20 rolls of these bad boys). I warm one up under some water (these paper towels stay tough when wet too!) and then swipe it over the candy for simple clean up without the frustration of scraping hardened candy off of my counter. These paper towels are soft and strong, like cloth, so I use them for just about everything: wiping faces, cleaning tables, drying dishes, and cleaning bathrooms. Grab everything you need for this easy recipe, including Viva® Vantage® Big Roll 6 Pack, at your local Walmart while stocking up for your game day essentials.
