With summer nearly here, now is the best time to tackle our cleaning list for the areas of our homes that are often overlooked or neglected. We embrace the warm weather by freshening up our homes, opening the windows to allow the warm breeze inside, and getting all the winter grime scrubbed out with a little elbow grease and our favorite cleaner of choice. Summer cleaning can be daunting, but I think there is something to be said for giving your home a deep and thorough cleansing. We feel refreshed, relaxed, and ready to take on the warm weather with new motivation. As a self-proclaimed neat freak and organizational queen, I thought I would share my top five tips for summer cleaning to help you tackle your lists and greet summer with a resounding, “hello there, stay awhile!

1. Declutter: Clutter manages to take over in the winter months, between all the blanket grabbing from the linen closet and shoving Christmas presents wherever they could fit, it seems that come summer, it’s getting out of control. Before tackling your tasks, declutter your home room by room. This will free up space, melt away stress, and make cleaning much more simple.

2. Put together a cleaning kit: I keep several in my home. One under each bathroom sink for easy access and one in our laundry/supply room. All three have Fabuloso® cleaner in lavender. Lavender is my ultimate favorite scent and Fabuloso® works wonders on all my home’s surfaces. From scrubbing the bathtub to wiping down bedroom doors to cleaning the kitchen, I can use it anywhere and everywhere. The aisles of Walmart are stocked with several different fragrances (including a limited edition Spring Bloom!) and sizes to meet your unique needs.

3. Enlist help: Naturally, having help makes your work load much easier to complete and it also gets the job done faster. Designate a chore to each family member. Even little kids can help gather laundry, use a spray bottle, wipe surfaces, and even use a duster. My husband and I tackle each room together with a list and we each take on tasks from our list one by one; we’re done in no time!

4. Make a list: As I noted above, my husband and I use a list and approach it room by room. About a week or so before we clean, I sit down and make a list of every task that needs to be completed in each room. I live for lists! They help me organize my thoughts and ensure I don’t forget anything.

5. Set a timer: If doing all of your summer cleaning in one day seems to huge a task or too arduous for you, try setting a timer for 20-30 minutes a day and see how far you can get. You’d be pleasantly surprised at just how far 20 minutes can get you. Plus, this is extra fun for the kids if you’ve enlisted their help.

I’ve shared my summer cleaning tips with you, now I’d love to hear some of your tips! Do you use Fabuloso®? Which fragrance is your favorite?
