Editor’s Note: Today is part two of an organization series and collaboration I’ve put together with several bloggers I know and admire. In the coming weeks, each Wednesday, we will share an organization project with you along with our tips, tricks, and ideas. And of course those before and after photos we all just love to analyze. Welcome to Destination Organization: a collaboration of organization projects to inspire you to tackle your clutter at home.

Junk drawers.

Just admit it, you have one. Everyone has one. Or two. For me, there is one in our kitchen that has coozies, candy, playing cards, manuals, and batteries. My other junk drawer? My nightstand. I am a master procrastinator when it comes to cleaning my nightstand out, but I was done with this in less than 10 minutes. Why do we always psych ourselves out of small projects like this? I will never understand it.

For whatever reason, this is where I keep junk. Old receipts, magazines, random change, buttons, Bengay (Brandon hurt his back last week!) and accessories for my electronics. I opened it last week and was almost in shock at how much junk was actually in that tiny little drawer. The rest of our master bedroom, I try to keep clutter free- so it was time for this junk to GO.

I generally have my Nook and my iPad on my nightstand to charge them. Brandon attached a surge protector to the back of each of our nightstands so that we have access to multiple outlets. Since our house is older, the light switch runs the top outlet (which we found out the hard way) and just by plugging things in, didn’t mean they were charging if the switch wasn’t on. He’s so smart.

Half of this stuff made it’s way back to the bathroom– lotion, chapstick, and cough drops. I took out all the trash, and wanted to keep this as storage for my electronics so the kids don’t mess with them all the time.

Less than 10 minutes later? Voila. A blank slate! Then it was time to organize. I put my nook and iPad in there, alone with misc. cords, the bands for my Fitbit, my body cream, and a notebook– just in case I have a great idea in the middle of the night.

It’s nice to have an organized drawer, and now I should probably go tackle the other one… wish me luck!
