In a place saturated with musical talent, LA’s KROQ radio station helps music fans find some of the most unique artists in the area. The radio station partners with Downtown Fullerton’s Slide Bar to bring SoCal free music every month.

On August 20, KROQ and the Slide Bar will host four up and coming bands from the LA area. Join Bonavox, Island Apollo, Wildling and Ceasefire for a night of free music. All these bands have been featured in KROQ’s Local Only playlist, and are in the midst of making a name for themselves.

About the bands

Bonavox: What started as a casual jam session turned into a musical act whose counterparts hail from all over the world – Brazil and Sweden just to name a few. Bonavox came together in Pasadena, and the band’s song “Fallen Angel” won a Grammy U award. The band’s line up has been through some changes in the past year, but with new singer John Flanagan, they’re ready to introduce fans to their new sound.

Island Apollo: This fun and exciting band hails from Irvine. After forming under a previous name, the band changed to Island Apollo after gaining a considerable following as teens. Comparable to Bad Suns, Island Apollo’s sound is fun, reflective and filled with infectious hooks.

Wildling: Wildling, formed less than a year ago, may be new as a band, but its line up consists of several members that have been in the music business for a while. With a fresh sound and hopeful lyrics, the band, who hails straight out of Los Angeles, falls somewhere in between a softer Indie sound and foot-thumping alternative rock. Wildling is currently in the midst of releasing an EP and gearing up for two tours this fall and winter.

Ceasefire: An alternative band from Orange County, Ceasefire formed in 2011 with band members Ray Alexander (vocals), Kamren Alexander (guitar) and Anthony Hainsworth (drums). The band’s sound can be described as an uplifting mix of great vocals, beautiful lyrics and winding instrumentals. Catch all four bands August, 20 at the Slide Bar, located on 122 E Commonwealth Ave., in Downtown Fullerton. Doors open at 8 p.m., and is a 21 and over show.
