BroAM

This Saturday Switchfoot, Rob Machado and several other bands will be playing a benefit concert for the 11th annual Bro-Am Foundation. The day will start off at 7 a.m. with multiple surfing competitions that will go on into the late afternoon. At noon, the music kicks off with Brynn Elliot. This event, presented by iHeart Media San Diego and Hurley, is set to take place at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas on July 11, 2015. Bro-Am was created to give back to the San Diego community by supporting local children’s charities through funds raised at a pre-event auction night soiree, as well as from vendors on the beach day-of, corporate surf team entries and sponsorships. Since it started in 2005, Bro-Am has raised more than $1,150,000 for San Diego-based children’s charities. The members of Switchfoot recently created the Switchfoot Bro-Am Foundation to continue their mission of giving back to the community of San Diego through music, surfing and youth development programs. This year, Bro-Am will also include an online auction to allow fans around the world to bid for unique items. Switchfoot has also announced they will open up a “pay what you can” music school in the band’s hometown of San Diego to give children of all backgrounds the opportunity to learn an instrument and have a stable environment.
