The fabulous and ever so French singer Soko will be making two stops in Southern California this March.

Her first stop will be at the small and intimate Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles on March 30. The next day she will travel to San Diego to play at The Loft located at UC San Diego.

Soko’s new album, My Dreams Dictate My Reality, is set to be released March 3.

Influences and comparisons to rock and roll legends are plenty and prominent with Soko’s new album — Patti Smith, Ms. Joan Jett, and, obviously, The Cure just to name a few.

This brooding and crooning enigma of an album is a beautiful mix of modern and classic punk rock.

My Dreams Dictate My Reality was produced by Ross Robinson, who has worked with and helped discover artists such as Korn and Slipknot, and is a raw, sensual love affair of great lyrics, catchy punk instrumentals and striking vocals.

Soko’s upcoming album is as much a confrontation of that dark past, as a manifestation of a new reality.

“Who Wears the Pants??” the album’s lead single, is a great track, inspired by a conversation between Soko and a friend about her sexuality. Soko reveals that this track is her “first ever protest song.

“I wrote it when I got fed up with all the crap I hear from homophobic demons,” said Soko.

The single is available here. You can also check out, her new music video for “Temporary Mood Swings” here.
