And I don’t mean the livestock. I mean the smell of buttery popcorn, deep fried Twinkies, and my ultimate county fair treat: cotton candy. Inspired by the warm weather and my county fair dreams of the sticky sweet baby pink and sky blue candy, I made this Cotton Candy Fudge to hold me over until I have have the real thing, hand spun and still warm. Excuse me as I wipe off the drool.

To start I added sugar, butter, and heavy cream to a large saucepan and whisked it all together until the sugar was completely dissolved.

From there I let it come to a boil and watched over it for the next several minutes. This is essential to getting your fudge to set the way you want it to.

Next I removed the pan from the heat and added in some marshmallow creme and vanilla chips and stirred it all together until it was completely melted.

I poured roughly 3/4 of the mixture into a foil lined (and non-stick sprayed) pan.

And then I added the cotton candy flavoring to the rest of the mixture that was still in the pan and stirred it all together before adding it to the pan over top of the rest of the fudge.

I grabbed my pink and blue food coloring and added several drops throughout the still wet mixture.

And then used a toothpick to swirl it all around, creating that dreamy cotton candy-like look.

Lastly, I covered the pan and stuck it in the fridge to harden for a few hours and tried my hardest to resist eating a taste or several.

The big question here asks does it satisfy your cotton candy craving? And the answer, my friends, is a resounding, whole hearted yes. In all the best ways. It’s decadent and full of that cotton candy fair flavor. And the colorful swirls makes it all the more fun to look at and enjoy. It’s a great way to impress your kiddos, ha! Or really anyone! And it’s so simple to make, but looks like you spent tons of time perfecting the swirls and twirls. Cotton candy fudge, you complete me.

For additional recipes, clever ideas, and more, be sure to follow the Our Holly Days page on Facebook where I update frequently throughout the week.

Cotton Candy Fudge

Print

Ingredients

2 cups sugar

¾ cup butter

12 ounces white chocolate chips

7 ounce jar marshmallow creme

¾ cup heavy whipping cream

.10 ounce packet Duncan Hines Cotton Candy Frosting Creations flavor mix

pink and blue food coloring, several drops of each

Instructions

Line a 13×9 inch pan with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.

Combine sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a saucepan, stirring over low heat until sugar is completely dissolved.

Bring contents to a boil and allow to boil for approximately four minutes or until candy thermometer reaches fudge measurement.

Remove mixture from heat and stir in marshmallow creme and white chocolate chips until completely melted together.

Pour ¾ of mixture into foil-lined pan.

Add the cotton candy mix to the saucepan and stir until well mixed.

Drizzle mixture from saucepan over the mixture already in the pan.

Add several drops of each food coloring all over the fudge.

Swirl food coloring using toothpick or butter knife.

Cover and allow to set in the refrigerator for minimum two hours.

Notes

Original recipe from Smart School House.

3.5.3208

The post Cotton Candy Fudge appeared first on Our Holly Days.

Source::

By Holly Sosa With warmer weather here, I feel like the smell of county fair is in the air.
