My notebooks and pens, file folders and organizers all need to inspire me. I love color and surround myself with it to keep me feeling uplifted.<\/p>\n<p>My journaling Bible has been a blank slate of brown for some time now and I&#8217;ve been debating how to cover it or decorate it to keep me feeling that inspired feeling when it comes time to create art with Jesus. And when I happened on a lovely lavender floral scrap of fabric in my stash, I knew it would cover my Bible.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a seamstress by any means, but I can sew a <del>kind of<\/del> straight line and was able to put together this simple journaling Bible cover in under 30 minutes. However, this could easily be recreated with fabric glue if you don&#8217;t know how to sew or have access to a sewing machine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUPPLIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>sewing machine (or fabric glue)<\/li>\n<li>fabric of choice<\/li>\n<li>iron<\/li>\n<li>scissors<\/li>\n<li>ruler<\/li>\n<li>pencil<\/li>\n<li>sewing pins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To start, I laid my Bible flat and used a ruler to measure the width of the book.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover1.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover1\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>And to ensure I had flaps to cover the inside, I added on several additional inches (or the width of the front cover added).<\/p>\n<p>Next I cut the width out of my fabric.<\/p>\n<p>I folded and ironed one end and then laid my Bible over it again to measure the height, added a half an inch, and marked it with a pen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover2.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover2\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>Then I cut out the height from the fabric.<\/p>\n<p>Folded over the extra half inch and ironed it to give me to edges, neatly folded over.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover3.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover3\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>Next I folded down the width edges by about a half inch and ironed them as well.<\/p>\n<p>I secured all the edges using my sewing machine. You can do this by hand or use fabric glue if you don&#8217;t know how to sew.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover5.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover5\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover6.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover6\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>Once I was finished securing the edges, I laid my Bible flat over the fabric again and folded over the extra to make the flaps.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover7.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover7\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover8.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover8\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>Ensuring the fabric was taught, I closed the book and marked where the flap was to be secured on both the front and back covers at the top and bottom of each cover using sewing pins.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover10.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover10\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>Gently removing the fabric from the book, I secured each flap (top and bottom) with a quick run under my sewing machine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover12.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover12\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>Finally, I slipped the book into it&#8217;s new custom fit cover.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover13.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover13\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ourhollydays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/journaling-bible-cover14.png\" alt=\"journaling bible cover14\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a fun and simple way to add personality to your journaling Bible while also keeping it protected.
