When it comes to hair, I’ve become less and less afraid of it and embraced experimenting with it. When I lopped it off last year and traded in my mermaid locks for a pixie, it changed something inside of me; I realized my hair didn’t define my beauty and I found a piece of myself I never knew existed. Since then, I’ve tried blonde highlights, chocolate brown hair color, and even went wild with a bright magenta color. In fact, as you’re reading this post, I’ll be sitting in my stylists chair going from my current short bob back to pixie again and try out a new fun color (be sure to follow me on Instagram<\/a> for the reveal). For me, hair is an accessory and I love playing around with styles.<\/p>\n

With a short pixie or a bob, most women don’t think they can achieve a beach waves look. But with my grown out pixie\/bob, it’s been one of my favorite styles. It’s easy and gives you a glamorous look with little effort. To achieve this beach waves for short hair<\/a> look, all you need are a few quality products and you can be transformed to a short-haired glamorous mermaid. My product of choice for this wavy beach style is Beach Blonde\u2122Sea Waves\u2122 Sea Salt Spray, which isn’t actually just<\/em> for blondes, but can be used on all hair colors. It’s infused with natural sea salt and has a coconut scent that I just live<\/strong><\/em> for!<\/p>\n

To start, I washed and moisturized my hair with the John Frieda\u00ae Beach Blonde\u2122 Cool Dip\u2122 Shampoo and Beach Blonde\u2122Smooth Seas\u2122 Conditioner, you can find these John Frieda\u00ae items at Target; they add some texture which helps prep hair for styling. I gently towel dried my hair, but didn’t brush or comb it at all. I like the added texture uncombed hair gives for this particular look. For me, my fine hair (lots of it!) allows me to get away with this, so if you have thicker hair that will need a little detangling, comb through with a wide toothed comb.<\/p>\n

Next, I blow dried my hair with just my fingers and the dryer. I didn’t use a round brush because I was going for windblown waves and I wanted to help that process along. I also did not brush through my hair once it was dried. Beachy and windblown is what I’m going for here, so making it neat won’t help me.<\/p>\n

I separated my dry hair into sections and clipped them up out of the way.<\/p>\n

Using a large barrel curling iron, I curled large chunks of my hair away from my face. I left the tips of my hair out of the clip so I could avoid a full ringlet and instead got a nice little wave.<\/p>\n

Once I finished up with the bottom sections, I let down my top sections and repeated the curling process using the same technique: away from the face, leaving the tips out.<\/p>\n

Once my hair was completely curled, I used my fingers to separate each curl and help them blend into one another.<\/p>\n

Lastly, I spritzed my entire head with Beach Blonde\u2122Sea Waves\u2122 Sea Salt Spray<\/a>. Friends, this stuff smells ahh-maze<\/em>. The natural sea salt adds great texture to the waves without weighing them down. This is easily worked into my hair with my fingertips.<\/p>\n

Finish off with just a touch hairspray and I’m done! The fiercest beachy mermaid waves.<\/p>\n
