A sure sign of the holidays in my home is when you find me in the kitchen baking up a storm with my stand mixer, packaging holiday treats into Rubbermaid TakeAlongs as I go, Christmas music blasting as I jingle bell rock my way around the kitchen island. For me, the holidays and baking have always gone hand in hand. Food is my love language as most of you now by now and what better way for me to spread some Christmas love than with my favorite way to share it?

This week I dug up an old recipe for Russian Tea Cakes that I used to make with my mom. They’re a tasty cookie that takes little effort to make and since they travel well, I knew it would be a perfect way to gift some holiday treats to my husband’s co-workers and our church friends. I picked up a few Rubbermaid TakeAlongs at my local Walmart to use for gifting the powdery treats. I look forward to the limited edition holiday designs and red or green colors every year and love how festive they are, which makes them perfect for gifting food and cookies.

While at Walmart, I also grabbed some ribbon, bows, and ornaments to adorn the TakeAlongs to make them a little extra special for my recipients.

Once I was back at home, I filled each TakeAlong with as many Tea Cakes as I could manage to stuff inside. I also filled up some others with store bought cookies to save on time, which is a fun tip if you’re not a baker. It’s totally acceptable to repackage store bought treats if the oven scares you, ha!

Aren’t these little snowball-resembling treats adorable?

And then I sealed the lid shut. The Quik Clik Sealâ„¢ keeps the cookies fresh and prevents spilling during travel when I’m delivering the treats to friends.

Then I wrapped a ribbon around the container and secured it with a knot.

And added one of the ornaments, securing it to the container with the ribbon.

Lastly, I added a little sprig of holly (of course!) so they knew exactly where their treats came from.

After the ornament and holly have been added, the TakeAlongs are ready to be gifted to friends, co-workers, and family. I love choosing fun ornaments based on personality and interests. The final product is festive, fun, and offers both yummy cookies and a holiday keepsake.

One of the reasons I love gifting with Rubbermaid TakeAlongs is because the food storage containers can be reused by the recipients. They’re microwave and dishwasher safe, plus they have handy little measuring marks on the containers for reusing in baking or cooking. I love that it can also be a way of encouraging friends to pass on the love by filling the TakeAlongs with their own homemade goodies and giving it to someone else.

These limited edition colors are available only from 10/29 through 12/24 and can be purchased at your local Walmart.
