With five kiddos at home, weeknight meals need to be simple and easy to make; especially when back to school schedules pick back up. For me, I keep some sanity during those dinner time hours by keeping freezer meals and a ingredients for an easy dump meal or two in the pantry. A dump meal is a meal that uses just a few quick ingredients all dumped into a slow cooker in the morning so that the meal is ready when everyone is ready to eat dinner. Before school starts, I like to stock up on ingredients for dump meals like Prego Italian Sauce for Albóndiga (Meatball) Subs that I serve on hoagie rolls with a pile of mozzarella on top.
To start, add a bag of albóndigas (meatballs) to a slow cooker.
Cover them with a jar of Prego Italian Sauce in whichever flavor you prefer. I love good ol’ traditional, but all of them are homemade tasting and have that perfect blend of sweet and savory Italian flavor.
Cover and set your slow cooker and that’s it!
Dump it and forget it until it’s time for dinner. Do you see why I love dump meals like this one so much? All it takes afterwards is scooping some of the meatballs and sauce onto a roll, topping it with some mozzarella, and enjoying a piping hot homemade tasting meal with little effort.
We’ve been in the throes of preparing for back to school here at Casa de Sosa. Between new shoe shopping, supplies buying, and stocking up in our kitchen, we’re trying to get ahead of the game and be extra prepared. With five children, it’s really beneficial for us to think ahead. That’s why we’ve been saving money for those school supply lists by purchasing Campbell’s brands from Walmart like Pace Salsa, Prego Italian Sauce, Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup, and for mom? V8+ Energy, which helps keep me from reaching for the diet soda during my middle of the day crash. It tastes like a fruit smoothie and is nutritious, offering a combined serving of fruit and vegetables. It’s a refreshing energy drink that’s powered by green tea and easy to grab on the go. Our fridge is stocked with Peach Mango and my favorite Black Cherry.
