In my home, summer means it’s movie season. While Friday night sleepouts (the kids grab their blankets and pillows for a living room camp out) and movies are a usual tradition around here, in the summer time, I take those Friday nights up a notch with themed foods, treats, and activities.
Last Friday, I planned a spooky night around the one of the latest releases on Netflix, Hotel Transylvania 2. My kiddos love Dracula and rehearsing his infamous, “I don’t say BLAH BLAH BLAH!” Drawing inspiration from the silly characters Blobby and Murray, I made Murray Dogs and Blobby Monster Treats.
The Murray Dogs were simple to make. They were just crescent roll dough wrapped around hot dogs and baked until the hot dogs were heated through. They turned out so fun! I added The yellow Murray eyes with a couple dots of yellow for a fun and spooky Hotel Transylvania 2 dinner.
For the Blobby Monster Treats, I made green JELLO as per the instructions on the box.
I laid out clear cups over a baking sheet.
And poured the JELLO into the cups before sticking them in the refrigerator to set for a couple hours.
Once the JELLO was set and perfectly Blobby textured, I grabbed some candy eyes and added them to the surface of each cup.
All that was left to do was to grab a spoon and slurp down our individual Blobby Monster Treats!
We invited over a few friends and we all enjoyed the spooky snacks before settling in to watch Hotel Transylvania 2 with our blankets and pillows laid out all over the living room. This is what a typical summer movie night looks like here. Everyone spread out, cozy, and together.
Hotel Transylvania 2 is now available to stream from Netflix, but be sure to check out all the other latest releases for your own themed family summer movie night.
