Planning is my jam. If you’re a regular reader, you know about my profound love for paper planners and organization. Christmas is no different. In fact, Christmas and I have such a deep love affair that it gets it’s own planner. You may say I’m crazy, but when you see my simple DIY Christmas Planner, you’ll be running out to door to get your own composition book and get to planning all your festivities along with me.

Making your own Christmas planner is as simple as grabbing a composition book at your local Walmart (they’re only $0.88!), adding some dividers, and then festive flair. Festive flair is options. But not really.

I covered my composition book with some patterned Christmas paper and washi tape.

Then I used some label stickers to create dividers. You can also simply cut pieces of paper into two by two inch pieces and staple them directly to the pages. But my brain would have gone nuts and needs a neater looking solution. These stickers provided lovely little dividers.

The dividers can be suited to your particular needs. Mine were: to do, gift list, TV movie schedule, daily scriptures, menu, and a tab for each of my children (and husband!). Additional ideas could include: card list, bake list, decorations, traditions, bucket list, stocking stuffers, wish list, and the list can go on. Whatever you need to organize, simply add a tab.

On the inside cover, I added a small area for receipts (in case any gifts need returning) and coupons.

Of course all the fun happens on the inside pages where I decorated each page to motivate me to keep organized this season. There is something about pretty paper that speaks to my soul, friends.

On my to do list, at the very top, you’ll see in bold letters DON’T FORGET BATTERIES! Because I forget them every year, without fail. And Christmas morning my excited little kiddos are bummed that they have to wait yet another day to play with some of their shiny new things. This year, I’m stocking up on Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ Batteries because they’re the world’s first AA battery made with 4% recycled batteries. It is also Energizer’s longest-lasting battery, which means less changing them out and searching for a pesky screwdriver.

The daily scriptures section is a list of daily readings I take time to read to my children that will help them understand more about why we celebrate Christmas.

The TV movie schedule is where I keep track of when our favorite holiday movies are playing. I like to be able to pick up my planner and glance to see if anything special is on that night. Holiday movies are a huge part of our family traditions.

The menu is where I plan out our Christmas Eve dinner, our Christmas morning breakfast, and then our Christmas dinner. All special and important meals in our home.

My gift list tab is just a simple run down of family members we typically buy presents for and next to their names (if I thought of one) a gift idea.

After all of those, I’ve got a tab for each of my children and one for my husband. This is where I keep track of their wish lists, my own gift ideas, and what I’ve already purchased for them. This is a great way to see at a glance what I still need to purchase. With two electronics loving boys to buy for, batteries are going to be a high priority.
